Course Description |
Scouts learn about insects common in the area. Learn to classify and raise their own insects. Insect Study is one of the elective merit badges for the BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award for Boy Scouts. |
Who can participate? | Current members of the Boy Scouts of America. |

Cost | Program fee of $15.00 per scout. Non-refundable |
Helpful Preparation | Scouts should mail a blue card signed by Scoutmaster to the registar. Scouts should read the following:
Insect Study Merit Badge pamphlet, 2024 edition Printed copy of the Insect Study workbook - January 2024 edition and completed requirement #10 as a pre-requisite #9 will be a post-requisite to be given out during class. |

Arrival | Plan to arrive 10 minutes early, late arrivals disrupt the workshop. |
Attire | Scouts will be indoors and outdoors, please wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Scouts may bring any collecting equipment they wish. Bring a lunch, snacks, water bottle and insect repellant if desired. |
Parents and Siblings | Parents and siblings are welcome if they do not impact the program. Sometimes, parents can assist the Counselor. |
Weather | In the unlikely event that a program is canceled, scouts will be notified. |
